Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what data Kolo Events ("Kolo", "we", "us") collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It reflects what the app actually does today. By using Kolo you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data we collect

We collect the following, all linked to your account:

  • Email address - for your account, authentication, and sign-in codes.
  • Name - shown on your profile.
  • Photos - your avatar and optional gallery photos, and posters for the events and clubs you create.
  • Other profile content - bio/description, interests, gender, age (optional), and social links (Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Social handles - the usernames or links you choose to add to your profile.
  • Chat messages - the content of messages you send in event, club, and friend chats.
  • Push token / device identifier - if you enable push notifications.
  • Product interaction / analytics - how you use the app (via PostHog).
  • Crash and diagnostic data - error and performance information (via Sentry).

We do not collect precise or coarse device location. An event's or club's "location" is free text you type; it is content, not GPS data.

2. How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • create and secure your account and authenticate you;
  • operate core features - profiles, events, clubs, friends, chats, and notifications;
  • send push notifications when you opt in;
  • understand product usage so we can improve Kolo (analytics);
  • detect, diagnose, and fix errors (diagnostics);
  • keep the community safe and enforce our Terms of Use.

3. How we share data

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising or to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

We use a small number of trusted service providers ("processors") that handle data only to run the service on our behalf:

  • Convex - backend and database hosting.
  • PostHog - product analytics.
  • Sentry - error and crash tracking.
  • Resend - transactional email (such as sign-in codes).

Your public profile (name, photo, and the details you choose to publish) is visible to other people using Kolo, and public pages such as your profile are reachable by their direct link.

4. Data security and retention

Data is encrypted in transit. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your associated data is removed as described below.

5. Your rights and choices

  • Access and edit your profile data at any time from the /profile page.
  • Delete your account from the Danger Zone on the /profile page. Deletion cascades and removes your associated data, including your authentication records.
  • Notifications - you control push notifications from within the app.

6. Children

Kolo is not intended for anyone under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
